Marvel announces creative team on THOR…

MARVEL Comics has just announced it's second creative team in the form of another teaser like the first one word ad they just released for INVINCIBLE IRON-MAN.  This time the theme is "WORTHY," and makes reference to the phrase etched on the face of the Thunder God's mystic hammer, MJOLNIR.  It reads "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be WORTHY, shall possess the power of THOR". . .

The creative team that will be responsible for THOR will be Jason Aaron(A v. X, Incredible HULK) will be writing the title, while Esad Ribic(UNCANNY X-FORCE, The Ultimates) will handle the pencils.  The Asgardian's tales will pick up where the current series leaves off, but will be renumbered at #1.

Arron is one of MARVEL'S work horse writer's churning out fabulous storylines for multiple titles and can currently be read finishing up the current crossover with the AVENGERS and the X-MEN.  There is a preview of what THOR will look like being drawn by Ribic, the 2011 limited series Astonishing THOR was pencilled by him.  Stay tuned to Marveluniverseunlimited.com for further news and developments on this and the rest of the MARVEL NOW! launch coming this fall. The WOLVERINE Casting Updates . . .

X Men Origins: Wolverine; Hugh Jackman as "Wolverine"

The WOLVERINE Gets 2 New Cast Members . . .

It's been recently reported that Marvel Enterprises and Twentieth Century Fox's upcoming film "The WOLVERINE" due out July 2013 has added two new members to it's cast.  The film which will be directed by James Mangold( Walk The Line, 3:10 To Yuma, Identity), and written by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback stars fan favorite Hugh Jackman reprising his role as WOLVERINE, is said to pull heavily from the 1982 Chris Claremont, Frank Miller mini series.

In that series, Logan travels to Japan and gets involved with the Yakuza, the Japanese mob, and the assassin organization known as The Hand.  There is also appearances by The VIPER and an armored ronin, Kenuichio Harada also known as The Silver Samurai.

It was rumored that Jessica Beil would play the Viper, but this is still believed to be a rumor and no confirmation has been announced as of yet.  The Hollywood Reporter released a story recently that actors Brian Tee and Will Yun Lee were the newest additions to the film.

Lee was cast as Silver Samurai, a Japanese mutant with the ability to charge anything from his armor, to more notably his Katana sword with an energy force called a tachyon field, he is the illegitimate son of Yakuza boss Shingen Yashida and longtime partner of the VIPER.

Actor Brian Tee has also been cast, as Noburo MoriMori has been described as a crooked minister of justice who is slated to marry Mariko Yashida, the daughter of Shingen Yashida and step-sister to Silver Samurai.  This storyline is an EPIC character defining story and nothing new to fans of WOLVERINE.  With heavy influences from Claremont's powerful writing, The WOLVERINE is shaping up to be an incredible film.  Stay tuned to Marveluniverseunlimited.com for more news on the upcoming blockbuster due next year as filming has already begun.

DEADPOOL Kills The Marvel Universe!

We all know the mutant Mercenary known as DEADPOOL has a big mouth.  Anyone who has the fortune(or misfortune depending on which side of his blades you're on) will not shut up, in fact sometimes I wonder if his marks don't want to die, just to be rid of his relentless wise cracking and insults.  Yes, even teammates have wanted to "pop a claw or three" in his gullet at one time or another.  The man named Wade Wilson a.k.a. DEADPOOL can be a lot to handle.

Assassins skills rivaled by few, proficient with almost all forms of weaponry, Olympic level athletic abilities, and a built in healing agent to boot, the ol' Merc with a Mouth is formidable, but is he formidable enough to take out the MARVEL Universe

This is the question that will be answered in the upcoming MARVEL series release "DEADPOOL Kills The Marvel Universe" which starts in August.  The series is set for a weekly release schedule and starts August 1st.  The title is written by Cullen Bunn, with art by Dalibor Talajic and colors by Lee Loughridge.  The issues will have a price point of $2.99.  The story is a what if kind of tale that see's DEADPOOL taking on the MARVEL Universe in his own trademark way, a lot of weapons, major attitude, and even more mouth!  This series is not for the kiddies though, it'll be done graphic horror-story style.

Could DEADPOOL actually pull it off and take out the MARVEL UNIVERSE?  Be here for this series starting the first week in August and see if the Merc with a Mouth can pull off his ultimate challenge . . ."DEADPOOL Kills The Marvel Universe" brought to you by MARVEL Comics . . . The PUNISHER does “Dirty Laundry” . . .

The-Punisher-Dirty-Laundry-2012-Movie-Picture-01

Jane reprises role as PUNISHER in Unofficial short . . .

Fans both everyday and famous alike have been making video shorts for years as a way of showing love and support to their favorite films, comics, books, and cartoons among other things.  Rarely has someone who actually starred in the official version of a property star in these fan made shorts.  But recently Actor Thomas Jane(HBO's HUNG, Deep Blue Sea, Boogie Nights) did just that.

Jane, who played The PUNISHER in the 2004 MARVEL Studios major motion picture release has reprised his role of vigilante Frank Castle, a.k.a. PUNISHER.  The short film is called "Dirty Laundry" ans follows a much more vicious Castle on a visit to the laundry mat when he stumbles on a bad situation, from here the action picks up in classic Frank Castle fashion.  The short also stars veteran actor Ron Perlman and is a little over 10:00 minutes long, although it's technically not rated, this short deserves an "R" rating due to some nasty "punishment" dealt by Castle himself.  Jane was quoted as saying "I wanted to make a fan film for a character I've always loved and believed in, a love letter to Frank Castle and his friends."

No telling if this short film will lead to a sequel of any kind, but Jane sounds like he would love to come back to play the character again, and with MARVEL pushing the NEW title "PUNISHER: War Zone" there's always hope.  Here is the unofficial "PUNISHER" short entitled "Dirty Laundry" starring Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman . . .
